Sea breezes and fog can still roll in (especially near ocean-facing areas) so layering is wise. Despite being summer, average daytime highs often stay in the 19-22 °C (66-72 °F) range, and nights can remain cool because of the marine influence - often down into the 10-12 °C (50-54 °F) range. One notable feature is fog and wind: the classic “marine layer” often blankets western districts in the morning and then clears by afternoon, but the cooling effect remains strong. Rain is rare during the core summer months, and the skies are clearer, especially from late June into September, which is why this period is considered “dry season”. Summer gives full access to the city’s highlights: take a cable-car ride across the hills, visit the vibrant waterfront at Fisherman’s Wharf or go out to Alcatraz Island. Even though the climate is cool by many standards, this is peak tourist season so expect crowds at popular tourist spots, and higher prices for hotels.

This tour was a fantastic way to explore California in a short time. Pebble Beach and the scenic 17-Mile Drive were absolutely beautiful. In San Francisco, we visited Lombard Street and the impressive Golden Gate Bridge, which looked incredible from the viewpoints. The trip to Yosemite National Park was definitely the highlight, with breathtaking scenery and fresh mountain air.
