This Plaza de Cibeles fountain found in one of Madrid’s most beautiful squares is named after the Roman goddess of nature, Cibele (or Ceres). Cibeles Fountain, built between 1777-82, depicts the goddess, who holds the keys to the city, in a chariot being pulled by two lions.
