The Forbidden City is one of the top attractions in China, the world's largest imperial palace complex. Built from 1406 to 1420, it housed 24 emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties until 1924. Surrounded by massive walls and a wide moat, the Forbidden City encompasses over 180 acres and contains more than 900 preserved buildings.
