5-Day Italy City Break Tour from Rome: Florence, Bologna and Venice

History, Wine, and Stunning Cities

This was my first guided tour, and I wasn’t sure what to expect—but it was phenomenal. Everything was organized down to the last detail, and the staff were incredibly attentive. The bus rides were comfortable and offered gorgeous countryside views. Florence completely stole my heart—standing in front of the Duomo was surreal. Venice was busy, of course, but walking across the Bridge of Sighs felt magical. I also loved how much history we got from our guide without it ever feeling like a lecture. The wine tasting in Montepulciano was another standout. It’s such a smart way to balance sightseeing with local culture. Would do it again in a heartbeat!

8-Day Discovery of Italy Tour from Rome with Airport Transfers: Florence, Bologna and Venice | Hop-On Hop-Off | Vatican Museums: Skip the Line

A Dreamy 8 Days Across Italy

From start to finish, this tour was absolutely magical. The pick-up at Fiumicino airport went smoothly, and the hotels in Rome, Florence, and Venice all felt properly 4-star—clean, comfortable, and in good locations. Florence was my favorite stop, especially seeing the Duomo up close with our local guide who was a total expert in Renaissance history. Venice was equally unforgettable with the walking tour in Piazza San Marco followed by spritz and cicchetti—it felt so authentically Italian. The motorcoach rides were comfortable, and I loved the Tuscan countryside views between cities. The itinerary was busy but very well organized, leaving enough time for some personal wandering. The Vatican "skip the line" pass saved us hours, which was priceless! I would recommend this trip to anyone who wants to see the highlights of Italy in just over a week without stressing about the logistics.

Preguntas frecuentes sobre tours de Giotto S Campanile

Is Giotto's Bell Tower the same as the Florence Cathedral bell tower?

Yes, Giotto's Bell Tower is the freestanding campanile adjacent to the Florence Cathedral (Santa Maria del Fiore). Designed by Giotto di Bondone in 1334, it stands at 85 meters and is renowned for its intricate marble work and Gothic architecture. Although Giotto began the project, it was completed by Andrea Pisano and Francesco Talenti after his death.

Can you climb Giotto's Bell Tower, and is it worth it?

Yes, visitors can climb 414 steps to the top of Giotto's Bell Tower for one of Florence’s best panoramic views. The climb is strenuous but rewarded with unobstructed vistas of the Duomo, Brunelleschi’s Dome, and the city skyline. Tickets must be reserved in advance; access is not included with all Duomo Complex passes.

What time should I visit Giotto's Bell Tower to avoid crowds?

Visit Giotto's Bell Tower right at opening (8:15 AM) or 1-2 hours before closing to minimize crowds. Midday hours are busiest due to tour groups. Weekday mornings typically have shorter lines. Is there a combined ticket for Giotto's Bell Tower and other Duomo sites?

Yes, a single 32€ ticket grants access to Giotto's Bell Tower, Brunelleschi’s Dome, the Baptistery, the Cathedral Museum, and the crypt. The ticket is valid for 72 hours but requires timed reservations for the Dome and Bell Tower climbs. Reservations are mandatory and should be made weeks in advance via the official Opera di Santa Maria del Fiore website.
