The Upstate New York gorge has spectacular waterfalls, unique rock formations and lush forests. Located in the Adirondack Mountains, Ausable Chasm was established in 1870 as a public attraction and features the Ausable River flowing through the narrow two-mile-long sandstone canyon that is said to have formed almost 500 million years ago.
