This fashionable thoroughfare along the Bay of Angels in the seaside French city of Nice is lined with beaches, cabanas, cafes, hotels and shops. The idea of Promenade des Anglais was proposed by English vacationers in 1820 escaping the cold in Nice and then called Camin deis Angles. The very popular tourist attractions runs for several miles along the Mediterranean coast.
