Fast paced tour

A lot of places were visited during this one day tour. However, the pacing was very fast to avoid the crowd and be on time for the next destination. We had a very informative and funny guide who was a great story teller with a voice that reminds me of Julie Andrews

FAQs about Windsor Berkshire Tours

How do I get from London Heathrow Airport to Windsor Castle efficiently?

Take the Elizabeth Line from Heathrow to Hayes & Harlington, then transfer to a South Western Railway service to Windsor & Eton Central - the journey takes 30-40 minutes. Alternatively, catch the Line 703 bus directly from the airport to Windsor town center (about 35 minutes). Both options offer frequent departures.

Is there a city pass for Windsor that includes castle entry and local attractions?

Yes - the Windsor Express Pass grants access to Windsor Castle, St George’s Chapel, and optional river cruises. Available at tourist kiosks or online, it also provides discounts at select shops and restaurants. Note: Windsor Castle is closed on certain Wednesdays; verify dates before purchasing.

What’s the best time of year to visit Windsor to avoid rain and crowds?

Visit between April and June for mild weather and fewer showers - Windsor’s average rainfall is lowest in May (45mm). Summer months draw peak crowds due to royal events and tourists. Early spring offers blooming gardens at the castle with shorter lines.

Can I use contactless payment in Windsor, or should I carry cash?

Contactless payment is widely accepted across Windsor - including buses, cafes, and shops. However, some historic sites and small vendors near the High Street may prefer cash. Carry a small amount of GBP for entry fees at chapels or local markets where card readers are occasionally unavailable.
